Please remember that if you are using student loans to help meet the costs of your medical education that you need to renew them NOW!
You should have already filled out the FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov). Ross will then send you an award letter based on the FAFSA information you submitted (be sure to check your personal e-mail account for this award letter if you did not see it in your Ross e-mail).
Please remember that to meet the full costs of your education you may require a PLUS loan in addition to the Stafford loans. The PLUS loan is the one that is credit-based (i.e. it is dependent upon your credit score; if you have not applied for your loans yet and you will need a co-signer, contact them ASAP).
The following is only an example and is being provided to help you complete the loan process. Your individual needs may vary from the example and you should consult with the financial aid dept if you need specific assistance.
Your award letter will look something like this:
Subsidized Stafford: $4,250
Unsubsidized Stafford: $6,000
Federal PLUS: $14,580
You will likely see 3 columns, one for each semester. When applying for your loans you are NOT applying for all three semesters. You are applying for only two of them. Next summer (i.e. our 5th semester) you will have to fill out another application. That's just the way it works.
Good luck on the practicals, the shelfs, and on Mini 3.
